The Extra Mile Campaign

As launched by Stuart Wall, at the Christmas Party, the extra mile campaign kicks off across all Opal Sites this month. All members of staff will be invited to walk, run, cycle, crawl, hop, conga or skateboard (in fact any way you want) a mile for The Opal Foundation, to support our work with both AMREF and the NSPCC.
Three crystal glass torches will be circulating between 23rd January and the opening ceremony on 28th July. When it appears on your desk, and it will, please do complete your mile and pass the torch on as soon as you can. We aim to cover the equivalent of Lands End to John o Groats plus one mile, the extra mile, making 874 miles in total, and raise £17584 or £20.12p per mile.
Spend no more than the equivalent of 2 working days per member of staff circulating the torch in your hall, e.g. with 5 members of staff, give yourselves 10 days and then hand it on.Complete the mile as a team if it helps. It would be great if you could raise any combination of 2012 from £2.12p to 20.12p or more and a sponsorship form is attached or may be downloaded from the Opal Foundation Website. Any amount will be very welcome, but remember each mile is worth £20.12.
You can pay it in via the Opal Foundation website, or arrange a central collection in your hall. Either way, do let me know by e-mail, at andrewy@opalgroup.com how you have done your mile, and what was raised.
There will be a surprise award for the wackiest mile and the most money an individual raises. You can also let me know in advance what you plan to do and we can get it in OZONE.Do not worry about waiting for the torch, you can complete your mile and simply pass the torch straight on when you get it.
The three torches will start their lives in Wilmslow Park Manchester, Arkwright Hall Bradford and London

Arkwright Hall. Bradford Torch:
Arkwright,Aspley, Opal 1 and 2 Leeds, Opal 3 Leeds, Sheffield 1 , 2 and 3, Momentum Gyms, Aigburth, Greatt Newton and Opal Court Liverpool, Nottingham 1 and Sutton Bonington.
Opal 1 London. Torch:
London 1,2,3 and 4, Plymouth, Exeter, Fiveways, Birmingham 1, Opal Court Leicester, Grosvenor House Leicester, Opal Newport, Snowdon Hall and Opal Dundee.
Please hand the torch on in order, so that we can judge progress. We will keep everyone updated with progress as miles are done and the money comes in, so watch the Opal Foundation website and Ozone.
